Learn more

Lawrence (Larry) A. Soler is President and CEO of the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), which works with the private sector and PHA Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama to ensure the health of our nation’s youth by solving the childhood obesity crisis. PHA brings together public, private, and nonprofit leaders to broker meaningful commitments and strategies to end childhood obesity. Under Soler’s leadership, PHA has garnered commitments from more than 170 private sector partners and supporters to bring Americans access to healthier foods, help kids move more, ensure healthier environments in childcare settings and healthier choices in the marketplace.

Prior to joining PHA in 2011, Soler was Chief Operating Officer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He oversaw the bulk of JDRF’s activities, including fundraising, marketing and communications, information technology, government relations, and international development. Among his accomplishments, he is credited with leading efforts that resulted in securing $1.75 billion in mandatory federal funding for type 1 diabetes research. Soler received a B.A. with honors from Clark University and his J.D. from George Washington University. He is a member of the Maryland and D.C. Bar Associations, and serves on the boards of the JDRF and the National Institute of Health’s Cures Acceleration Network.

Lawrence A. Soler will talk about his goal of solving the childhood obesity crisis and teaching children and their parents to make healthier choices.
